Comments about Narita Slim Brief:
This is an exceptional bag as it is designed with a lot of thought in terms of the organizational layout. The zippers are of exceptional quality and do not need to be tugged to close. It is stylish and sleek. It holds a lot more than it appears. Not bulky when viewed or carried. The sleeves and interior are lined with soft durable blue lining. Expensive but well worth it. I used it in the rain today and it was not ruined. The inside contents were dry. It has good space for a laptop and a tablet. Both sleeves are padded for these. It has nice small grommets at the bottom for placing on the floor. It does not tip and stands nicely. I recommend this briefcase if you want to be organized and stylish. This is my first Tumi and I am looking forward to more.
Comments about Narita Slim Brief:
I bought this bag at a Tumi store in Chicago. Construction is great as you'd expect from Tumi. It looks great as well. Inside the bag is lined with beautiful blue material with white line to highlight the pocket line. There are 2 main compartments that open from the top. The front compartment can fit a book 2.5 inches thick along with my 15 inch laptop in the back compartment at the same time without it looking like it's full. There is sufficient amount of cushioning material in the back compartment to protect your laptop. There are lots (LOTS) of inside pockets. However most of these pockets do not close with zipper or button. Two of the larger pockets in the front compartment have magnetized botton while one pocket on the front compartment has a zipper closure. Rest of pockets are open to rest of the compartment. I don't find that this is an issue. It's very well made and beautiful. However, there are so many pockets and it's a bit too many for my taste. I don't think anyone, men or women, need that many pockets.
I notice a couple of problems: they are minor issues. The first one is that because there are so many pockets inside the most forward facing pocket (the one accessed by front facing horizontal pocket) that cloth material of the pocket get jumbled up and protrude in the middle of front face of the bag. I initially thought that it was some sort of a sharp object inside my bag that was causing this. However, after looking inside I found that it was one of the pocket material. I tried moving/redistributing the material unsuccessfully. It's kind of unsightly but only visible if I point it out to someone. In the long run I have a feeling this portion of front face will wear differently and become a bit shinier than the rest of front face of the bag. Another thing that needs to be addressed in the next model is that the joints connecting strap pad to the strap squeak a lot. The strap has a cool neoprene filled pad connected to strap by metal rings on either side of the strap pad, hidden under. This joint design is made so it moves along with body movement and prevent the bag from sliding off your shoulder. It still slides off the shoulder while making a lot of noise. It's not the type of noise remedied by oiling since it's from leather and metal rubbing against each other. Again, these are minor issues.
