Comments about Maxwell Gym Bag:
I have searched high and low for the "perfect" gym bag to replace my ratty Adidas one that I've had for years. It was time to upgrade to an "adult" gym bag.
This gym bag is so close to being perfect. My only complaint is that it is just a tad small. It could stand about 2 more inches in length and maybe an inch or so in height. I do NOT pack a lot into my gym bags, either. Once you slide your shoes into the shoe compartment (which I love) more than half of the bag is taken up. I add light shorts, a performance tee (both very thin for summer), and an empty Stuffitts odor-killing bag to throw my socks and underwear into, and the bag is pretty much full. I also pack a hanger so that I can hang my work clothes after I change. This is where I noticed that the bag is just a tad too short in length. A standard white, plastic hanger barely fits. In fact, when put into the bag it strains the zipper a bit trying to close the bag.
I'm already worried about the winter months when I need to pack heavier clothing to wear to the gym. I fear the bag will be stuffed when that day comes. Also, I don't see how anyone would be able to fit a toiletry kit into the bag along with shoes and gear. Luckily, I don't shower at the gym so this isn't an issue for me, but if you do shower at the gym, take note that this bag may be too small for your gym gear and your personal toiletries. The best recommendation I can give is to definitely get the bag because it as an awesome, top-quality bag, and then try to fit your typical gym gear and toiletries into the bag. If it doesn't work for you, return it. But if it does work for you, you've found the perfect gym bag.
Comments about Maxwell Gym Bag:
Received my Maxwell gym bag a couple weeks ago. Overall, it is a good bag for the gym. I believe the only flaw is the size and storage capacity. When you put your shoes in the shoe pocket, the capacity size diminishes since it takes up a good portion of the inner pocket. Would have been great to have this pocket be underneath the main compartment.
When I think about a Tumi person - I think, they are going to the gym, work, maybe plans after but unfortunately the size of this bag only truly allows for a single, maybe double outfit and only 1 pair of shoes. If I'm doing work, gym, after work - that's at least 2 pairs that I need to put in this bag. I also had to purchase a much smaller toiletry bag since after putting in the essentials, the toiletry bag was too big. Not sure what water bottle would fit in the water bottle pocket as it's a regular pocket. I tried to put my shaker bottle in there but it fell out.
Again, overall it's a great bag and I love the ballistic nylon material. I bought it in blue and love showing it off at the gym. I just think capacity wise it could be a bit better and bigger. I love the side handle for carrying it upright for putting it into a standard locker easier. Multiple pockets is a plus.
